Impact100 Greater Wausau Awards $100,000 Grant to Good News Project

Impact100 Greater Wausau awarded its second annual $100,000 Impact Grant on Monday during its Annual Awards Celebration at Sundance Chalet in Wausau.

Good News Project was awarded $100,000 for its Be the Good Today and Transform Tomorrow Program. Good News Project was chosen from three finalists by membership majority vote.

The other two finalists, ATTIC Correctional Services, Inc. and Childcaring, Inc., will each receive a $19,000 Merit Grant from Impact100 Greater Wausau. The grants are made possible by the 138 women who each donated at least $1,000 to Impact100 Greater Wausau this year.

Susie Arnold, Developing/Marketing Manager of Good News Project, explained that given their proven success and maximum capacity with current staff and equipment, the Impact100 Grant will allow Good News Project to scale their services by funding a jib crane and forklift, a volunteer coordinator, and a mobile education unit.

Arnold stated that the equipment funded by this grant will allow Good News Project to scale their productivity and increase volunteer safety, as well as provide funding for a volunteer coordinator for 2 years.

With 168 volunteers donating 4,764 hours of time in 2021, volunteers are key to both E-Cycling and HELP programs.  This Mobile education unit funded by this grant will have posters, handouts, and a dedicated space for volunteers to educate participants during weekly e-CYCLING drop offs. 

Impact100 Greater Wausau is an all-volunteer women’s organization that combines $1,000 of each woman’s donation into transformative grants for nonprofits in Marathon County.

At Monday’s Annual Awards Celebration, the group noted that in the first two years of giving, members will have donated a quarter of a million dollars to area nonprofits. Impact100 Greater Wausau was founded in 2020 and is one of two Impact100 chapters in Wisconsin.
