Neillsville School Board Hears About Changes to High School Advisory Time

The Neillsville School Board heard some information from the guidance counselor regarding the high school advisory time.

Guidance Counselor Julia Backaus presented proposed changes to high school advisory time. The Board approved the June operational plan and calendar as presented.  Lance Gregorich, with CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director, Mark Spencer, presented a building projects update.

The Board also approved the bid for the elementary gym wall replacement by Rhom Construction in the amount of $311,701. The Board also approved an early graduation request from two students. The Board also approved the summer food service agreement with Granton as presented and approved the donation of buses for the Neillsville dairy breakfast as presented.

In employment matters, the Board approved the letter of confirmation for Kerry Vance as presented, approved the Support Staff Handbook for 2022-2023 with changes as presented, approved the confidential and supervisory wages for 2022-2023 as presented, approved the Confidential and Supervisory Handbook for  2022-2023 as presented, approved the teacher contract for 2022-2023 for Amy Hanna as presented, and approved the teacher contract for 2022-2023 for Megan Kappes as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • 4K enrollment for 2022-2023;
  • PBIS; Field trips;
  • Star lab;
  • Elementary school step up day;
  • 4K graduation;
  • Reading instruction updates;
  • Field day and talent show on the last day of school;
  • And summer school.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Character trait of the month;
  • Field trips;
  • Music;
  • Classroom presentations;
  • Rachel's Rally;
  • Teacher appreciation week;
  • 5th grade transition into 6th grade;
  • 8th grade graduation;
  • Summer school dates;
  • And a thank you from Mrs. Strangfeld.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • State solo and ensemble results;
  • Ag students' community service activity;
  • Spanish Honor Society inductees;
  • Elks Award winners;
  • Appreciation lunch for high school staff;
  • Scholarship presentation;
  • Senior picnic;
  • Last day for seniors;
  • And senior graduation.

District Administrator John Gaier reported on:

  • Thank you cards;
  • 2022 CESA convention representative;
  • Social media survey results,
  • Food service programs;
  • SAA articles on redistricting;
  • Governor's veto history;
  • Legislators retiring or resigning;
  • State tax collections;
  • And an article from The New York Times on educational trends.
