NEILLSVILLE MAN DEAD AFTER MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

Monday, May 8th, 2006 -- 11:29 AM

A 21-year-old Neillsville man is dead after a head-on motorcycle-versus-car accident in Jackson County.

The accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the Jackson County Town of Albion. According to the Sheriff?s Department press release, the car entered the northbound lane of Wold Road. It appears the southbound motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lane.

Extensive skid marks indicate the operator of the motorcycle lost control while braking. The Neillsville man was actually thrown at the car; the motorcycle never made contact with the vehicle.

The man was not wearing safety protection and held an expired learner?s permit. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
