Aspirus Recognizes Skin Cancer Awareness Month
Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 -- 8:15 AM
One in five Americans will get skin cancer at least once in their life, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
There are three major types, and the most deadly, melanoma, kills about 20 people every day. Aspirus of Wisconsin reminds residents that May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and serves as an opportunity to educate people about prevention and early detection of the most common of all cancer types.
AAD and the Skin Cancer Foundation say to remember the do's and don'ts for protecting your skin this summer. When in doubt, get it checked out. Board-certified dermatologists are experts in caring for the skin and have more experience diagnosing skin cancer than any other medical provider.
