Greenwood School Board Elects Officers
Thursday, May 12th, 2022 -- 10:00 AM
The Greenwood School Board selected their Board Officers:
- The President is Jerome Krempasky,
- The Vice President is Dean Lindner,
- The Clerk is Jessica Wolf,
- The Treasurer is Mark Shain,
- And the Trustee is Jamie Gardner.
In employment matters, the Board approved Hannah Olson as an elementary teacher for the 2022-23 school year, Jo Elmer as a Substitute Employee, and Hayden Hinker as the Boys Varsity Basketball coach. They also approved summer school teachers, student assistants, summer custodial workers, and summer baseball coaches. The Board approved the field trip of Spanish Club to Miami, Florida in November of the next school year.
The Board also approved:
- Forward Bank as the official depository,
- Approved the District Newsletter as the official newspaper and the TRG as the secondary publication,
- Approved the 2nd Monday of the Month at 7:00 pm in the Boardroom for their monthly meetings,
- Approved Weld Riley as District Legal Advisor,
- And approved Mark Shain as the District CESA 10 representative.
The Board tabled the WASB Delegate, WASB Delegate Alternate, District CWETN representative, District ESSA representative, and Committee assignments for 2022-23.
The Board received an update that all state tests have been completed, an update on summer projects, approved the High School office remodeling project, received an update on the Transportation Contract and renewal process, received an update on the 2021-22 Budget transfers, received a 2022-23 Budget update, approved the 2022-23 Dental Insurance Renewal, approved the Uniform Bid, and approved the School Forest Timber Harvest bid from Martins Forestry.
The Board also received notice of a new NEOLA update coming in June, approved the 2022-23 teacher contracts, and approved maintaining the current pay structure for coaches and advisors. The Board also heard the Committee Reports. Mark Shain shared an update from CESA 10.
For the Administrators' Reports, Principal Joe Green reported:
- On the proposed summer projects;
- Mr. Green reminded the Board of the “A Night for the Arts” event on May 25th;
- He also provided an update on the altered middle-high school block schedule for next year and scheduling for next year is underway;
- They’re also looking to add Algebra for High School credit as an 8th grade option.
District Administrator Todd Felhofer reported:
- That Governor Evers signed a bill allowing students in an education preparation program who are 21 years of age to substitute teach;
- Letters of Reasonable Assurance will be sent to all support staff and substitute staff;
- Teacher contracts will also be sent out this week ahead of the May 15 th deadline;
- The Mock Interview event held last month was a great event and they received many compliments from employers and CESA 10 with several of their students receiving job offers as a result of their interviews;
- The District received a Silver Level Recognition from CVTC for our work in offering our students dual credit courses.
Finally, during the Communication from the Public portion of the meeting, a parent expressed concern over talk of canceling the 8th grade trip to Madison.
