Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Grass Fire

The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Saturday.

According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, they received a call of a grass fire at 4:08pm located at W5355 Granton Road in the Township of Pine Valley. Upon arrival, they found a ditch line burning and getting into tall grass.

The owner of the property had been burning in a fire box a few nights before. Around 20 minutes prior to the fire, he had dumped the ashes from the box. The fire burned an area of 80 feet by 20 feet.

The department was on scene for 20 minutes, they had no injuries, and they received mutual aid from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department with traffic control.
