Wisconsin Cheese Production

Wisconsin cheese factories manufactured less product during the month of March when compared to the previous year.
According to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, the state produced 296.6 million pounds of cheese during the month. That was 3.0 percent less than last year, but 9.6 percent higher than this past February, which had less days on the calendar. Nationally, about 1.20 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in March. That was a 1.1 percent increase from 2021, and 8.3 percent more compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month.
Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 26.3 million pounds, which was down 6.4 percent from last year, but 22.6 percent higher compared to last month.
