Second Judge Orders Records Relating to Wisconsin's 2020 Election Not Be Destroyed

(Bob Hague, WRN) A second Dane County judge has ordered that records relating to the partisan probe of Wisconsin’s 2020 not be destroyed.
“I don’t want any records destroyed. I’m frankly amazed that I have to say don’t destroy records that are subject to an open records request, or order that to occur. I think all of us know what the law is.”
Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn issued the order Wednesday in an ongoing lawsuit by the liberal group American Oversight. Attorney Michael Gableman was hired by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to lead the review last year.
An attorney representing Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Assembly Clerk Ted Blazel in an open records lawsuit says the two are not responsible for records generated in a partisan probe of Wisconsin’s 2020 election. “I continue to object, when petitioner brings motions that label Mr. Vos and Mr. Blazel as being responsible for something that they’re not.”
Attorneys for Gableman have said the former state supreme court justice is exempt from retaining records. Bailey-Rihn issued her order two weeks after Dane County Circuit Judge Frank Remington issued a similar in another open records lawsuit.
