Clark County Testing of Outdoor Warning Sirens Happening Today
Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 -- 2:01 PM
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center monthly testing of the outdoor warning sirens will continue this month.
These tests will take place on the first Wednesday of the month between 5pm and 6PM, meaning they’ll take place today, May 4th. The tests will take place through the spring, summer, and fall months.
If there is severe weather in the area, the test will be postponed. The test will go on as scheduled if there are clouds or rain in the area. These siren tests are necessary to make sure the equipment is working properly so the most effective warnings can be provided in an emergency.
The use of outdoor warning sirens should not replace other sources for emergency information such as NOAA All- Hazards Radios, signing up for the Clark County Emergency Management Nixle alert system, and monitoring of local television and radio during severe weather events.
The sirens are designed to alert you if you are outdoors. They are not intended to warn you inside your homes or places of business.
