(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Farmers in the Badger State didn't get the dry weather they were hoping for last week, but some producers were able to get their equipment into the fields.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the Wisconsin Ag Statistics Service, which said there were only 2.6 days suitable for fieldwork for the week with temperatures averaging 7.9 degrees below normal.

The agency's weekly crop report noted that topsoil moisture condition levels were rated one percent very short, seven percent short, 68 percent adequate and 24 percent surplus.

As of Sunday, about 15 percent of the spring tillage was reported as complete. That's over three weeks behind last year and 10 days slower than the five-year average.

Just one percent of the corn crop is now in the ground, also multiple weeks behind normal for the first of May. Farmers were also able to sow three percent of their soybean fields. Oats planted was reported as 15 percent complete, about 22 weeks behind last year and 12 days behind average.

Two percent of the crop has emerged already. And the winter wheat condition was rated 76 percent good to excellent statewide, up eight percentage points from last week.
