The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a barn fire early Saturday morning.
According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, they received a report of a barn fire around 6:57am at N1001 Owen Avenue in the Township of Levis. When they arrived, the barn and grainery was burnt to the ground and there were low flames.
The structures had burned through the night and are considered a total loss. They’re unsure if a lightning strike caused the fire or if it was an electrical issue. Six horses perished in the fire.
The Department had no injuries on their part. They received mutual aid from the Neillsville Ambulance Service and Clark County Sheriff’s Department who were both on standby.
