Chippewa Falls Police Department Investigating Death of 10-Year-Old Girl

Tuesday, April 26th, 2022 -- 12:01 PM

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) A ten-year-old girl is dead, and police in Chippewa Falls are calling the incident a homicide.

Chippewa Falls Police Chief Matthew Kelm confirmed the death of 10-year-old Lily Peters on Monday, a day after she went missing. "At this point, we are considering this a homicide investigation. We do not have anyone in custody at this time. And we are continuing to follow up on multiple leads."

Chief Kelm said, "We encourage anyone with information to please contact the Chippewa Falls police department and to maintain a state of vigilance as there may be a danger to the public."

Chief Kelm said this is a very active investigation. "We currently have representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, as well as many local law enforcement agencies assisting in this investigation, who are working tirelessly to uncover the truth."

Peters had taken her bicycle to visit her Aunt on Sunday but never arrived home. Searchers found her body around 9 am on Monday. Officers say they are following some leads at this time, but there are no suspects, and anyone with information is asked to call the Chippewa Falls PD at 1-800-263-5906.
