(Wisconsin Ag Connection) It has been another week of hurry up and wait for Wisconsin crop growers who are itching to begin their spring fieldwork.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the latest crop/weather report from the state's agriculture department noted that temperatures averaged 3.5 degrees below normal for the week.

But the weekend provided a glimpse of warm weather and windy conditions to help dry out fields. Topsoil moisture condition levels rated one percent very short, eight percent short, 66 percent adequate and 25 percent surplus.

Spring tillage was reported as 8 percent complete, which almost three weeks behind last year and 11 days slower than the five-year average. About eight percent of the oats have been sowed. That's also 18 days behind the 2021 season.

The winter wheat crop was rated 68 percent good to excellent statewide, a seven percentage point improvement from last week.
