Greenwood City Council Approves Several Appointments

The Greenwood City Council administered the Oath of Office to their new and returning members at their meeting including Tracy Nelson, Ryan Ashbeck, and new mayor, Dave Hansen.

The Council then had a few appearances. Joan and Jeff Hoeper were present and expressed concerns over the cost of the River Crossing project and provided a presentation on how they felt the city could save money on the project.

Barb Ashbeck questioned when her street was going to be resurfaced or patched from the water break that was fixed previously. She was informed they will be doing blacktop patching this summer around the city.

Brian Duell, County Highway Commissioner, questioned if the council would like to bore holes in the bridge for future water/ sewer needs. The Council will discuss at the May 4th Council meeting.

The Council also approved several appointments including Kayla Schar as the City Clerk/ Treasurer, Bernie Bock as the Chief of Police, Bonnie Wachsmuth as the City Attorney, Dave Hinker as the Cemetery Sexton, and Del Horn as the Emergency Government Official.

Also, Jim Schecklman was appointed as Ward 2 Alderperson. Schecklman was also nominated as the Council President and given supervisory authority over Deputy Clerk. The Council also approved the City’s Board and Committees as presented.

The Council also approved Forward Bank, Citizens Bank, First State Bank and State Investment Pool as the Official depositories for the city. The Council also approved the revised Development Agreement for TID 3 with the changes as discussed allowing them an additional 6 months for construction.

Discussion was had on the bid received for the transmission line project. First bid from Haas Sons, Inc. came in at $1,048,050 and was rejected by Council. Rebid from Haas came in at $754,891 and the Council approved the bid.
