Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 -- 12:01 PM

A Jackson County Jailer accused of having a sexual relationship with an inmate appeared in court on Tuesday.

According to court records, Bret Noltner is accused of taking a woman into a cleaning closet out of the view of a camera. The inmate said she wasn’t forced to be intimate, but she felt like she was being taken advantage of.

Noltner denied he had sex with her and stated the inamte initiated the relationship. Noltner is facing two counts of 2nd degree sexual assault by corrections staff and two counts of misconduct in office.

During his court appearance, probable cause was found so his court proceedings will continue. He entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He’s scheduled to be back in court on May 13th.
