Granton Village Board Holds Public Hearing on CDBG Grant

Saturday, April 16th, 2022 -- 10:01 AM

The Granton Village Board held a public hearing on the CDBG grant.

After the hearing, the board approved several resolutions and an ordinance. The Board also approved the 2021 audit and approved the audit contract with Hawkins Ash. The 3 year contracted price for 2022 is $20,160, for 2023 is $21,170, and 2024 if $22,225.

The sidewalk at 314 Oak is in bad condition and is dead ended on both sides. The residents asked if the Village would split the cost of the removal, and the Board agreed. 3rd Street is also in tough condition.

It was suggested removing the bad blacktop and dropping the road a foot to prevent the water from pooling, remove the culvert, and grade the road so it drains properly.

The Village could apply sub base this year and allow it to sit through the summer and pave next year when the County K is redone. They also received bids to replace curb and gutter and pricing ranged from $40 to $45 per foot.

They also had a discussion on the park. The board reviewed the 2021 expenses which totaled just over $5000. Dana Klein was considering taking over as the Park and Rec president but was concerned about what if the Park doesn’t make $5000.

She would consider taking over but would like the Village to handle the financials. Keeping the expense and revenue spreadsheets and paying the bills. They thought this idea might work and would allow us to report financials monthly instead of giving the park a bill at the end of the season. Clerk agreed to assist.
