Wisconsin Senator Looking to Get Kids Free Meals in the Summer

(Terry Bell, WRN) U-S Senator Tammy Baldwin wants all children to get a free meal this summer without needing to fill out paperwork.

The free lunch waiver was enacted during the height of the spread of the coronavirus. Baldwin is asking the U-S Agriculture department to extend it. The waiver allows all kids to get free school lunches without having to fill-out applications or worry about income thresholds.

Baldwin says she’s concerned many children taking classes at home this summer would go hungry without some regulatory flexibility.
