(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Though not much is happening yet in the fields, the Wisconsin Ag Statistics Services has begun its weekly series of crop/weather summaries.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, the agency noted that temperatures averaged seven degrees below normal during the past week as snowfall and rain showers across the state left many fields too wet for field activities.

Scouts say there were a few reports in the southern part of the state of pastures, winter wheat and cover crops starting to green up. Topsoil moisture condition levels were rated two percent very short, 11 percent short, 58 percent adequate and 29 percent surplus.

Winter wheat condition was rated 61 percent good to excellent statewide, which was down from 77 percent good to excellent at the end of November. There were a few reports of oats being planted. Statewide less than one percent of spring tillage was reported as complete.
