Wisconsin Cheese Production for February

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cheese factories produced more product during the month of February compared to the same time a year earlier.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, which stated the state produced 278.3 million pounds of cheese during the month.

That was 5.3 percent more than last year, but 2.9 percent lower than this past January, which had more days on the calendar. Nationally, about 1.11 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in February.

That was a 6.3 percent increase from 2021, but 5.3 percent less compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month. Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 24.4 million pounds, which was down 5.8 percent from last year, and 1.0 percent lower compared to last month.
