Thorp FFA Competes in Career Development Events

The Thorp FFA competed in Career Development Events on March 22nd and several teams competed to test their skills and knowledge in 6 different contests to advance on to State Competition.

Thorp has a long history of doing very well as it prepares students for careers and this year was no different.  Competing in Veterinary Science and placing 5 out of 14 teams were Trysta Leech, Taylor Boie, Maddie Micke and Willow Haase.

Willow Haase placed 1st individually in the contest.  In Livestock Judging, placing 14 out of 16, were Landon Penk, Samantha Burish, Kendall Luzinski and Madelyn Windl.  In the Wildlife contest, placing 4 out 11, were Ivan Neisius, Ryan Raether, Shawn Hughes and Dorian Neisius.

In the Floriculture Contest, placing 1st out of 15 teams, were Kambria Mannel, Elena Ciolkosz and Kate Schraufnagel, Elena Ciolkosz placed 1st overall individually, Kambria placed 2nd and Kate 3rd individually.

In Middle School were Emma Mohr, Kallie Penk and Anna Ciolkosz and Ruby Hein placing 4the out of 20 teams, with Emma, Kallie and Anna all placing in the top 15 individually out of  70 students.

In Poultry Judging, placing 3rd out of 13 team, were Taylor Kroeplin, Luke Schraufnagel, Jacob Ciolkosz and Tyler Hughes. Tyler placed 8th out of 43 individuals.

The Floriculture, Poultry, Vet Science, and Wildlife teams all advanced onto State and will compete for the first part of the contest virtually on April 8th with the hands-on portion in Madison on April 29th at UW-Madison.
