Midwest Tattooers in Marshfield Runs Unique Project

A Marshfield Tattoo Parlor has implemented a unique project to help the community.
At Midwest Tattooers in Marshfield, if you go to their business you’ll see a coat rack that says “Need a coat? Take a coat! Want to help? Leave a coat!” I asked Tommy Kirschbaum where he got the idea to do this.
"I have five kids. That's a challenge within its own!"
He also explained why he decided to do this project in front of his business.
"I had seen a something online and we have all this stuff, a hoarding of stuff, because we have so many kids. We cleaned out our whole closet and just started with our own stuff and it's been five or six years now and it's done its own thing."
They’ve had the coat rack available in front of their store for several years now. And they’ve seen amazing success.
"I would guess that there's probably anywhere from 250 to 500 jackets that go through it a year."
Kirschbaum wanted to stress that it’s the community that provides the jackets. He just provides a place to hold them.
"It's not even us. It's the community that's doing it. We just house the place. It's not me. I just tend it. I make sure the jackets are picked up and we'll take it and wash them. I just maintain it. It's not me. The community is leaving them on there and the community is taking it. I just happen to have a place in front of my business for it."
With the cold season coming to end, Kirschbaum said they’ll be taking the coat rack down soon. But, they will definitely put it back up when it turns cold again next fall.
