A Minnesota man charged with kidnapping a woman appeared in Jackson County Court.
Back in August of 2017, Dontay Reese offered to give a woman a ride home, but instead kidnapped her and drove her to Wisconsin. He told the woman he was going to traffic her. She tried to escape multiple times, but was violently caught and restrained by Reese each time.
A family saw one of the escape attempts and called 911. When authorities arrived, the woman was running from a wooded area with her hands bound. Reese is facing charges of kidnapping, two counts of 2nd degree sexual assault, false imprisonment, battery, and possession.
During his competency hearing, a judge found Reese competent to stand trial. He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 7th.
