Fairchild Man Drowns While Doing Maintenance Work in Pond

A Fairchild man has drowned after being pinned underwater while doing maintenance work.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, on Friday morning, around 9:30am, a maintenance worker was doing work in a pond in Jackson County on Garfield Road in the Town of Curran, which is northwest of Hixton.
While the man was working, a large pump rolled and pinned him under water. Rescue crews used heavy machinery to locate and remove the man from the pond. They were unable to revive him and he died at the scene.
