Clark County Sheriff's Department Will Resume Monthly Testing of Outdoor Warning Sirens Starting April 6th
Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022 -- 12:01 PM
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center will resume monthly testing of the outdoor warning sirens beginning on April 6th.
These tests will take place on the first Wednesday of the month between 5 and 6PM. The tests will take place through the spring, summer, and fall months. If there is severe weather in the area, the test will be postponed.
The test will go on as scheduled if there are clouds or rain in the area. These siren tests are necessary to make sure the equipment is working properly so the most effective warnings can be provided in an emergency.
The use of outdoor warning sirens should not replace other sources for emergency information such as NOAA All- Hazards Radios, signing up for the Clark County Emergency Management Nixle alert system, and monitoring of local television and radio during severe weather events.
The sirens are designed to alert you if you are outdoors. They are not intended to warn you inside your homes or places of business.
