The Loyal School Board heard a presentation from their Technical Education teachers.
Mrs. Odeen, Mr. Schiller, Mr. Montalvo, and Mrs. Donnerbauer gave great presentations to the Board on their programs this year. A big thank you to all of them for coming to the meeting and giving such a great presentation.
In new business, the CESA Contract for 2022-23 was approved contingent on changes to their OT and School Psych services, which are still being negotiated. The 2022-23 School Calendar was also approved.
The Board also approved a CESA land sale agreement. They purchased an adjoining lot several years ago with the plan of additional parking; but now have decided they do not need any more parking and want to sell the lot.
The Board approved an agreement to share their food service director, Jared Zemke, with Neillsville. If both schools can agree on the details, he will start being a shared foodservice director in the 2022-23 school year.
Kay Heiting presented some alternative prices for the library consolidation project and a projected timeline. The Board approved the project, and they will begin the project in the beginning of May.
The Board approved several major buildings and grounds projects using ESSER III funds including an HVAC Upgrade with installing new univents in rooms 24, 30, 31, 102, 103 and 112; new air handlers in the current elementary library and computer lab.
Door Replacement with 102 new interior doors throughout the building; and new exterior door on the west high school entrance; and new interior vestibule doors on the west high school entrance, the weight room; and the elementary entrance by the cafeteria stairs.
They also discussed the exterior paneling/window project. They will be replacing the window glass and panels in the first section of elementary classrooms. The glass and panels will have a greater R factor to keep the rooms warmer.
The Board also discussed the results of the four-year-old kindergarten survey. The survey results were 67% in favor of four-day 4K and 33% in favor of keeping the program as it is. No action was taken.
They also approved a lawn mowing contract with Curley Creek Lawn Services to do lawn mowing this summer. They also gave Dan Lindgren approval to hire three summer workers to help with cleaning and other maintenance this summer.
Their student accident insurance policy was renewed for another year; and the updates to Policies JEF, JEF-R, JEF-E-1, and JEF-E-2 which pertains to student work release were approved.
Loyal has had two inclement weather days so far and one early release. As of right now, they are okay with student instruction hours/minutes. No decision has been made yet as to make up dates for the teachers.
The Board also heard activities and the Administrators’ Reports.
