Granton School Board Meeting Recap

The Granton School Board began their meeting with the new Board Member taking the Oath of Office.
Mark Elmhorst took the oath for the term previously held by Cheryl Steinbach. Also, District Administrator James Kuchta reported that the Wisconsin Department of Instruction has approved Granton Area Schools request to start school before September 1 for the 2022-23 school year.
The board also approved Summer School classes as presented and Mr. Kuchta reported school vehicle information regarding future purchase of a van, a full size and short bus. Mr. Kuchta will continue to seek bids. No action was taken. The board also approved a Certified Therapy Dog at school, approved the Start College Now & Early College Credit program applications, and approved the alternative diploma for a second semester transferring senior, upon completion of current semester credits.
The board also approved the revised 2021-22 shared transportation agreement with Neillsville, approved the renewal of the football cooperative with Neillsville for the 2024 & 2025 seasons, and approved a JV Girls Basketball team for the 2022-23 season. Granton will have no varsity team in 2022-23. The board also approved the CESA 10 Resolution Authorizing & Approving the Sale of Real Estate Property by Cooperative Educational Services Agency #10, approved the 2022-23 CESA 10 Service Contract with changes recommended by the District Administrator, approved the Bauernfeind Business Technologies Proposal Option 1, Five Year Lease, and approved the quote from Impact Protective Coatings for $9,637.90 for the kitchen floor. Regarding parking lot bids: there were no bids submitted at this time. There was no discussion or action taken.
The board approved the new School Board Policies Chapter 5, Section J, Video Surveillance & Electronic Monitoring and Chapter 5, Section K Animals on District Property. The board approved hiring Hunter Vine as the head Esports coach, approved hiring Ryan Johnson as the assistant Esports coach, and board member Paul Knoff resigned from the Granton School Board.
In other items, Jessica Schier, 4th Grade Teacher, presented information on the Elementary Olympics Thematic Unit. Students of the Month are Abby Schnabel for Elementary, Iris Vine for Middle School, and Emma Woller and Lizzy Reinart for High School. They are recognized for the character trait of Hard-working. Kim Aumann is the Staff Person of the Month. She is recognized for the character trait of Hard-working. The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports.
Principal Amanda Kraus updated the board on th Crystal Apple Award Winner, CVTC Tours, ACT Day, Valedictorian & Salutatorian, and Foreign Language Week. Mr. Kuchta updated the board on a Facility/HVAC update, Mulch bids by tower area, Tower rental update, Maurer roofing quote update, Grant for mental health initiative, and a Daycare grant update.
