Saturday, March 19th, 2022 -- 7:10 AM
Loyal's Stephen Buchanan claimed another piece of history on Friday inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan becoming just the fourth two time All-American in program history. He also becomes the eighth Poke in program history to earn multiple NCAA All-American honors.
No. 2 Buchanan cemented his All-American status in the quarterfinals where he went up against No. 7 Rocky Elam (Mizz), it was the second time this season the grapplers have faced with Buchanan taking their first meeting earlier in the season. It was a repeat performance from Buchanan who notched an early takedown and racked up over three minutes of riding time cruising to a 4-0 win and advancing to the semifinals.
After dropping a hard-fought semifinal match to No. 6 Jacob Warner (IOWA), Buchanan will wrap up his NCAA tournament this morning (3/19) at 9 a.m. MT as he competes in the consolation bracket with a chance to wrestle back for third place. (gowyo.com)
