State Lawmaker Wants Legislature to Properly Fund Elections

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) A State Democratic Lawmaker wants the Legislature to properly fund elections to keep communities from needing to take private grant funding.

Eau Claire Representative Jodi Emerson says more than 200 communities took funding from a non-profit backed by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.

"A majority of the money was given to the largest five cities because they have the largest population. But it was given to municipalities all over our state. I would say if our state was adequately funding our local municipalities with proper amounts of shared revenue, we wouldn't have to get grant money"

Emerson wants Republican leadership to either send more money to communities through shared revenue or to fully fund elections.
