Wisconsin Cheese Production Rises in January

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cheese factories were back to producing more product in January after seeing a drop in output at the end of the past year.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, which stated the state produced 291.1 million pounds of cheese during the month. That was 2.8 percent more than last year, but 0.9 percent lower than this past December.
Nationally, about 1.17 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in January. That was a 2.8 percent increase from 2021, and 1.8 percent more compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month.
Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 24.8 million pounds, which was down 10.8 percent from last year, and 1.6 percent lower compared to last month.
