Some Local Results from World Champion Cheese Contest

The 34th Biennial World Champion Cheese Contest was held this past week.
Switzerland took first and second place in the competition, with Austria taking third. However, Wisconsin still had an excellent showing in the various categories. Some local results include Marieka Gouda in Thorp receiving a third for their young gouda with a score of 99.475. They also received Best in Class for their flavored gouda with a score of 99.495.
The Gilman Cheese Corporation received a second and third award in the pasteurized processed cheeses category for their shelf stable ultra sharp and shelf stable white cheddar. They received scores of 99.075 and 99.05 respectively.
Land O’ Lakes in Spencer received Best in Class for the pasteurized processed cheese spread category for their queso bravo dip. They received a score of 99.225. And Nasonville Dairy received the third award in the cheese curd category for their regular cheese curds with a score of 99.85.
