Another Step Towards Replacement for Wisconsin's Youth Prison

(Bob Hague, WRN) Another step towards a replacement for Wisconsin’s youth prison in Lincoln County.
The legislature’s Joint Finance Committee on Thursday unanimously approved borrowing 42 million dollars towards planning and construction of a new juvenile facility near Milwaukee. Completion of that will allow for the transfer of dozens of youth from Lincoln Hills/Copper Lake prison.
The plan passed both chambers of the Legislature unanimously last month, but an Assembly amendment required the finance committee approval. The amendment also requires local approval on wherever the state decides to build the replacement facility.
