Audio - :46Police say a 38-year-old Spencer man suffocated his wife by shoving a ceramic plate down her throat.
Patrick Zurkowski called a local funeral home Friday to report his wife, June, had died suddenly. The funeral home became suspicious and contacted authorities.
Zurkowski was charged Monday in Marathon County court with first-degree intentional homicide as authorities suspect the woman suffocated when he shoved a plate shaped like an Easter bunny down her throat. An autopsy revealed pieces of the plate broke off lodging in the woman?s throat.
Spencer Police say Zurkowski has not been cooperating in the investigation and had to be ?tasered? twice after he became combative with officers Friday.
Marathon County Judge Vincent Howard set a $1 million cash bond during an initial appearance Monday. An April 5 preliminary hearing has been scheduled.
