(Bob Hague, WRN) At the Capitol, Democrats introduce a package of 8 bills to address staffing shortages in schools.
State Senator LaTonya Johnson of Milwaukee said, “Our teachers are one of the most valuable resources that we have. They care for and educate our most valuable and our most vulnerable. And it’s time that we start acknowledging them for what they do.”
The proposals would increase teacher salaries, offer bonuses to those who stay in the profession and boost health insurance benefits. They’re unlikely to gain support from Republicans.
