State Appeals Court Overturns Wood County Conviction of Man Accused of Dealing Meth

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) A state appeals court has overturned a conviction for a man accused of dealing meth.
Wood County deputies arrested Jere Meddaugh in April of 2020 after he was spotted riding his bike behind a school in Wisconsin Rapids. Meddaugh didn't stop when asked and was chased down by officers, who found around 7-thousand dollars worth of meth on him.
But his attorneys argued that there was no probable cause for that stop in the first place. The appeals court agreed. The state will now have to retry the case without the evidence from the stop.
