Granton School Board Hears Achievement Gap Reduction Report

The Granton School Board heard the Achievement Gap Reduction Report.

Kim Aumann presented the annual Achievement Gap Reduction Fall Semester Report. The Board also approved a resolution to waive the September 1 school start date for the 2022-23 school year and have school start on August 23rd.

The Board also approved the 2022-23 school calendar pending DPI's approval of the request to start school earlier than September 1. The Board also approved the CDW-G quote to purchase eight computers for tech ed/eSports, approved the CWETN Distance Learning Consortium Agreement, approved a motion for a JV volleyball team for next fall, and approved the quote from Rhom Construction for replacement of the fieldhouse door.

The Board also approved the parking lot site design from MSA as presented. District Administrator James Kuchta provided updated information on the safety protocols for COVID-19.

The Board and community members discussed the future of the school and making it successful, but no action was taken. The staff compensation discussion was moved to Executive Session.

The Board also accepted the resignation from Stina Jansen as a teacher aide, approved Lindsey Halverson's leave of absence request, and approved the revised contract for Jenna Schneider as the 4K teacher and substitute.

For the Spotlight on Education, Blair Necas, High School English Teacher, presented information on the HS Literature class. Students of the Month are Trinity Holman for the Elementary, Trace Hersh for the Middle School, and Anna Kayhart for the High School.

They are recognized for the character trait of Gratitude. Blair Necas is the Staff Person of the Month. He is recognized for the character trait of Gratitude. Student Council Representative Tori Seif reported on FFA Week, basketball games, Forensics meet, St. Patrick's Day and Student Council money donation to the NHS.

The Board also heard the Principal’s Report. Amanda Kraus updated the board on:

  • Elementary Olympic opening ceremony;
  • HS Course Roundup;
  • National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) testing;
  • And the Strategic Plan Report.

Superintendent James Kuchta updated the board on information including:

  • January Pupil Count;
  • Excel Energy Rebate;
  • School tower rental;
  • And the Audit Financial Report.

Theresa Hasz, Board President, attended the WASB Delegate Convention virtually. All resolutions passed. Also, thank you cards to the Board were received from Katie Reider and Shelly Schmitz.
