Wausau School Board Discusses Drinking Water at School
Thursday, February 17th, 2022 -- 9:01 AM
The Wausau School Board discussed short and long term plans for drinking water after PFAS chemicals were found in the City’s water supply.
In the short term, they shut down the water fountains at all schools except at Hewitt-Texas, Maine, South Mountain and Rib Mountain. They hope to have some of the fountains working again by using a filtration system.
The cost for the system is $28,000 and they hope to have it in place through the end of the school year. In the interim, they encourage Wausau students and staff to bring their own water. They do have a limited supply of bottled water.
