Due to Elevated PFAS Levels, Wausau School District Shutting Down Water Fountains
Friday, February 11th, 2022 -- 10:00 AM
In response to a recent report showing the municipal wells in the City of Wausau have elevated PFAS levels, the Wausau School District is shutting down their water fountains.
The District said the decision is “out of an abundance of caution.” Hewitt-Texas, Maine, South Mountain and Rib Mountain will not be affected by the decision. The District said it is working on a long-term solution, but suggested, in the meantime, that parents provide bottled water for their children.
The District says they will have a limited amount of bottled water available.
