DATCP Says Tenant-Landlord Complaints Number 2 on List of Top Consumer Complaints
Thursday, February 10th, 2022 -- 12:00 PM
(Bob Hague, WRN) Tenant-landlord complaints remained a critical concern in 2021, ranking second on the state Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection’s list of top ten consumer complaints.
DATCP Administrator Lara Sutherlin suggests tenants try to resolve issues with landlords. “If you can’t resolve it, document those attempts, document everything you’ve done to resolve those issues, and get in touch with our office. If you still can’t get it resolved, give us a call, we can help mediate that, we’ve got a mediation unit. And if we can’t mediate it we can investigate it and see if there’s violation of law that we need to be looking into.”
DATCP received nearly 17-hundred landlord-tenant complaints last year. The agency’s Consumer Protection Hotline is 800-422-7128.
