Wisconsin Cheese Factories Manufacture Slightly Less Product in December

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin cheese factories manufactured slightly less product during the month of December.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the latest dairy product summary from the USDA, the state produced 292.1 million pounds of cheese during the month.
That was 1.6 percent less than last year, but 4.7 percent higher than this past November, which had less days on the calendar. Nationally, about 1.16 billion pounds of cheese was produced in the United States in December.
That was a 1.3 percent decrease from 2020, but 3.0 percent more compared to the amount manufactured during the previous month. Dry Whey output in Wisconsin was recorded at 24.2 million pounds, which was down 13.7 percent from last year, but 1.5 percent higher compared to last month.
