TOMMY THINKING OF RUNNING FOR GUV?
Thursday, March 16th, 2006 -- 11:02 AM
By Jackie Johnson, WRNAre Wisconsinites losing confidence in our state government? If so, can a guy named "Tommy" get it back for them? Wisconsinites watched as State Representative Scott Jensen and five others were convicted for corruption at the capitol. Former governor Tommy Thompson is confident the problems in state government are being taken care of, and he sounds a little nostalgic as he urges residents to be optimistic about the future of Wisconsin. ?I can remember when I was governor. For 15 years we made great progress, we were looked upon as, you know, as the star of the Snow Belt. And I think we can recapture that and, as I say, let?s use our motto ?Forward? again.?
Fond memories? ... Or is Thompson giving us a hint of his political future in our state?
So, what about Tommy coming back to save the day ... as Governor? ?That?s entirely possible. We?ll talk about that another day.?
Hmmm.
Thompson says the scandal in Madison will soon be part of the past and he urges everyone to remember the great opportunities here in what he calls "the greatest state in America."
