Wisconsin's 2021 Egg Production Slightly Lower Than Last Year

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin egg production ended the year slightly lower compared to late 2020.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, poultry farmers report that December output totaled 183 million eggs, down four percent for the year, but two percent higher than November's production.
According to the USDA's latest Chickens and Eggs report, the average number of all layers on hand was 7.21 million, about 7 percent lower than in 2020 and one percent off from the previous month. Eggs per 100 layers for December were 2,538, up four percent and three percent, respectively.
Nationally, egg production totaled 9.66 billion during December, a one percent increase from the year earlier. The total number of layers averaged 392 million, up slightly from 2020. December egg production per 100 layers was 2,464 eggs, also fractionally higher for the year.
