Monetary Donations to Professional Dairy Producers Foundation Remain Steady

Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 -- 8:00 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Despite volatile commodity prices in the agricultural industry during much of the pandemic, the Professional Dairy Producers Foundation says monetary donations have remained steady.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, that's according to the group's annual report, the PDPF brought over $126,500 in revenues from six different sources during the 2020-21 fiscal year.

The proceeds go to help support programs for the Professional Dairy Producers as well as grants that launch new dairy producer-driven initiatives across the country such as water stewardship producer groups and programs that educate and maintain public trust.

"The Dairy Foundation supports the continuous education that America's dairy farmers rely on to produce food for your family and ours," said Foundation Board Chair Brian Forrest. "The programs we support nurture the next generation of dairy leaders, develop the skills of current dairy producers and strengthen the bond of trust between consumers and producers.”

The 'Two Cents for Tomorrow' campaign, which allows dairy operations to contribute up to two-cents per hundredweight from their milk checks automatically, was the biggest contributor to the past year's budget.

That's followed by the 'Plant a Seed - Inspire a Dream' campaign, where industry leaders compete as teams to raise money for programs that promote youth leadership in an effort to inspire the next generation.

The third largest source of revenue was the 'I Believe' campaign, which is made up of dairy community businesses and individual financial gifts that are designated to the foundation. Other contributions came from grants, honorariums and the Foundation's annual silent auction.

The PDPF is a separate, charitable fund-raising arm started by the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin in 2002 to focus on long-term education projects that give producers and industry supporters the opportunity to give back to their profession.
