(Marshfield News Herald) Former Marshfield Police Chief Rick Gramza will pay $661 for disorderly conduct as part of a plea deal after a former subordinate accused him of repeatedly sexually assaulting her in his office.
According to the Marshfield News Herald, Gramza, 49, who now lives in Shorewood, pleaded no contest to two identical counts. One was reduced from fourth-degree sexual assault.
During a hearing Thursday morning, Portage County Circuit Judge Thomas Eagon, acting as a substitute judge in the Wood County case, found Gramza guilty of the amended charges and ordered him to pay court costs. Gramza resigned his position as police chief in March and continued to receive his salary of $8,708.33 a month through the end of August.
According to a criminal complaint prosecutors filed in November 2020, a Marshfield Police Department employee reported Gramza sexually assaulted her in his office. She told an Eau Claire police investigator the assaults happened repeatedly for five years, but she was afraid to report them.
