Wausau School Board Approves Referendum
Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 -- 9:00 AM
The Wausau School Board approved a referendum to go before voters during the April Elections.
The Board approved, on an 8-1 vote, a nearly $120 million referendum. The proposed referendum would authorize the district to issue general-obligation bonds in the amount of $119,800,000 for safety and security improvements across the entire district, along with several other projects, mostly focused on district secondary schools.
Those include construction of additions to Horace Mann and John Muir Middle Schools, Wausau East and West High Schools, and Grant, Riverview, South Mountain and Stettin Elementary, among other projects.
The District stated that the referendum would actually reduce the tax levy for residents by $.43 per $1,000 of property. The referendum will be on the April 5th ballot.
