Neillsville Police Department Warning Of A Scam
Sunday, January 16th, 2022 -- 7:40 AM
The Neillsville Police Department is warning residents about a scam making the rounds again.
Scammers are calling and stating that they are with the government and want to send you new plastic Medicare cards. They ask for the number on your card. DO NOT give it to them. If they really were from Medicare, they would know your number. Unclear what the end result is but spread the word. If you have elderly parent on Medicare, talk to them.
There are new scams invented every day. Universally, if they say they are with the electric company, the gas company, your bank, or you name it. Get their name and phone number and hang up on them. Then independently look up the institutions number. Rarely do government agencies call you. They send letters.
