Make Sure You Have an Emergency Kit in Your Vehicle

(Bob Hague, WRN) Now would be a great time to make sure you have an emergency kit in your vehicle.
Katie Rousonelos is with Wisconsin Emergency Management. “Several items that you should consider, cell phone charger for your car, a multi-tool, drinking water and non-perishable snacks. During the colder weather months you should also consider having extra warm clothes, some cat litter or sand to provide traction, as well as a snow shovel and windshield ice scraper.”
This week’s incident in northern Virginia, in which hundreds of motorists were stranded for up to 24 hours by snowfall along Interstate-95, highlights the importance of having an emergency kit in your vehicle.
Rousonelos said, “While local officials and relief workers may be on scene after an emergency happens, it may not be possible for them to reach you right away, so it’s important to have an emergency supply kit ready for your vehicle.”
As well as snacks and water, your cold weather kit should include warm clothing. Many of the stranded motorists on I-95 had none of that.
