An Auburndale woman is facing child abuse charges.
According to court records, an 11-year-old girl was found on December 17th at a gas station. She was barefoot and wearing only a long-sleeved shirt and pants. The temperature was around 20 degrees at the time she was discovered.
Authorities said the girl looked as if she’d been crying and had multiple injuries including cuts and bruises on her hands, neck and face. She also had a black eye.
After authorities talked with the girl, they confronted a suspect in the incident, Teresa Ertl. Ertl admitted to authorities that she struck the girl. Ertl is scheduled to be back in court on January 4th.
