Black River Falls Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire

On December 20th, just before 9pm, the Black River Falls Fire Department was paged by the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center for a reported structure fire located at N4608 N. Larkin Road.
This address is located in the Township of Irving and the County of Jackson. The call was placed to the EDC by a passerby. Mutual Aid was immediately requested from Melrose Fire Department, Hixton Fire Department, Taylor Fire Department, Merrillan Fire Department, and Alma Center Fire Department.
Jackson County Sheriffs Deputies were also on scene assisting with traffic control. The first arriving units found a 35 x 45 2-story residential structure with flames coming from several windows on the first floor.
An and exterior fire attack was initiated with multiple hand lines. Additional assistance was received from Jackson Electric to control the power to the structure.
Town of Irving and City of BRF Street Department assisted in keeping roadways free of ice. The residence was not occupied at the time of the fire and was insured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
The structure and contents are a total loss. There were no reported injuries to any civilians or firefighters. Units were on scene for 4.5 hours. A total of 42 firefighters assisted with suppression efforts. The departments used 29,000 gallons of water during extinguishment and overhaul.
