President and CEO of Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Not Thrilled About Governors Workforce Plan
Thursday, December 16th, 2021 -- 9:01 AM
(Bill Wise, WRN) The president and C-E-O of the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce says Governor Evers' workforce development plan is misdirected.
Kurt Bauer is criticizing the governor’s plan to spend 60 million dollars on workforce development. Bauer says the plan misses the mark. He says Wisconsin needs to grow, attract, and retain quality workers, focusing on replacing its aging workforce before it’s too late.
Evers wants to spend the money on things like daycare, Milwaukee schools, and a program to help convicts get university degrees. Bauer says investment is always welcome in Wisconsin workforce development, but he would have spent the money differently.
