-A rare band of December storms rushed through the area Wednesday evening, bringing damage and power outages to the area.

The City of Stanley was hit hard by the storms, with damage to numerous buildings, downed trees, and downed power lines. There are reports of no power to other areas as well including Neillsville, Greenwood, Thorp and more, but crews are working to restore power and some areas have reported their power has been restored.

Some schools are closed or starting late today due to damage and power outages. There were reports of a downed shed and trees in the Augusta Area. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported a cut fiber cable line causing issues with the 911 service.

A funnel cloud was spotted in Clark County about six miles north of Chili. There were also reports of damage to homes in Neillsville, Thorp, Osseo and other locations. Odd damages such as road signs blown into fields were also reported.

Yesterday’s storms brought straight line winds that reached gusts of 60mph or higher.
